Calculation Method for the Interests of People

One day in 1975 Chairman Kim Jong Il made a phone call to a leading official of a county committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea in South Phyongan Province late at night.

He acquainted himself with the farming and people’s livelihood of the county. He said rice produced in the county was watery.

The official was quite surprised by his unexpected words.

In fact, the moisture of the rice produced in the county was 0.03 percent higher than the standards set by the State.

As 0.03 percent was a small number he paid no deep attention.

He thought that the minute excess water would disappear when the rice was transported.

Reading his thoughts, the Chairman asked him to take a step quickly, saying the Party officials should not do so whatever happened.

0.03 percent should not be allowed at all as it encroaches upon the interests of the people. Boundless affection rather than calculation should be devoted to the interests of people.

This was just the way of calculation of Chairman Kim Jong Il who was devoting his all to the people.
